Beyoncé accepts the Album of the Year award for"Cowboy Carter" onstage during the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. , it’s hard to believe the music icon has gone her entire career without winning a single gramophone for Album of the Year. That all changed Sunday evening, though, when Beyoncé finally took home the prestigious award for her groundbreaking, genre-bending “Cowboy Carter” album.
“It’s been many, many years,” the singer acknowledged in her brief acceptance speech, in which she thanked every songwriter, collaborator and producer who contributed to her album.Beyoncé also dedicated her Album of The Year win to “Cowboy Carter” featured artist and country pioneer Linda Martell before concluding her speech.
“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year,” Jay-Z proclaimed while accepting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. But even with her milestone win, it seems Beyoncé long stopped putting much credence into the Recording Academy’s Grammy decisions.
