Commissioners have already maxed out the homestead exemption for Bexar County’s portion of the tax bill.

Until now, only homeowners age 65 and older have been able to claim such an exemption for the Bexar County Hospital District, also known as University Health. “We know there are folks in our community, when they see the shock value in their appraisals, that we want to do something to try and help,” said Precinct 2 Commissioner Justin Rodriguez. “This is certainly a good starting point, a step in the right direction.”
