The weather agency warned of the risk of frostbite and hypothermia in such conditions if people aren’t bundled up outdoors. It also reminded pet owners to provide shelter for their pets and outdoor animals.. Many drivers experienced commutes of up to 12 hours as roads, highways and bridges were packed with vehicles and snow plows had difficulty getting through to clear the roads.

The region will get a reprieve from Mother Nature on Thursday, which is expected to be dry and mostly sunny. But snow mixed with rain is in the forecast on Friday.
