'Better Call Saul' gives new life to a song by obscure San Antonio girl group the Dreamliners
She didn't even keep the few 45s they released on San Antonio record labels.
Salas gets royalties, but she doesn’t usually encounter her music on TV herself. Family members track them for her -- her niece recently told her that she had recognized a song in a movie and was excited to see Salas' name in the credits. "What is really lovely about the Dreamliners’ song, 'The Best Things in Life,' is the sort of sweetness, the optimism, and that it has a genuine squareness in a really lovely way. It’s a little bit like when you meet someone who is just wonderfully square, but you think there’s something so genuine and so lovely about that squareness that you can’t help but love them, and that’s kind of the way we felt about the couple.
