Her column appears in The Guardian once a month. - ContributedCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The holidays are coming up fast, and I bet your most pressing question is what days the library will be open? The library will close at noon on Christmas Eve and be closed for Christmas Day and Boxing Day but will reopen at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 27. It will also close for New Year’s but will be back again on the morning of Jan. 2.
Homework Club on Wednesdays, 3:30-5 p.m. will also re-start that week. And every Thursday, 3-5 p.m., the VR headsets will be available for kids ages 10 and up in the Rotary Auditorium.Monthly events include Yoga Stories for ages three to five on Jan. 17 at 6 p.m., with songs, stories and gentle stretches . Craft Club for ages six to 12 will be Jan. 2, 6 p.m., and everyone will be making clear tape bookmarks.
Also starting in the new year, the library has some new weekly programs for adults. Drop into the Fibre Arts Club on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. Bring a project and join other knitters, crocheters, rug hookers for crafting and social time. Thursdays between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. drop into the Mur Club Games night and learn to play this strategic board game. Tech help drop-in is every Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon. Drop in with a device and get paired up with one of the teen volunteers for assistance.
One-off information and fun sessions are also on the calendar. Learn about the library’s Libby and Flipster apps on Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. in order to use the library’s online e-books, e-audiobooks and magazines. On Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. local artist, Julie Bull will give a Spoken Word Workshop. Explore how to find a voice in writing and performing spoken word. Space is limited for this program, so call 902-368-4642 to register.
