Situated in a Lovett Commercial building that currently houses the adult mini-golf concept
, the two projects will be designed by Houston architect Isaac Preminger along with Berg and the company’s vice president of design and experience Sam Governale.Benny Chows, located on the first floor, will be Berg’s first dip into Chinese fare, described as an “elevated Cantonese” restaurant. The 5,489-square-foot restaurant with a Peking duck room, will offer a menu that includes dim sum, duck, dumplings, fried rice, noodle dishes, filet mignon and broccoli, and sesame noodles.
On the third floor will be the rooftop bar, Canopy Social, a 5,200-square-foot, British Caribbean-inspired space serving specialty cocktails and light bites. The design features a retractable roof with both covered and uncovered seating offering views of the Houston skyline. Both concepts are expected to open in April. The busy hospitality group, which recently opened the hidden bar Emilia’s Havana within The Annie Café & Bar, also will open a new restaurant Tavola, and the reconceptualized La Table, later this year. Berg Hospitality restaurants also include B.B. Italia, NoPo Café, Turners, and Trattoria Sofia.
