On the ice, Odjick was known as one of the toughest players in the NHL, always ready to drop the gloves and stick up for his teammates.

I just wanted to win,” he said of his playing career.Odjick was a far better player than many realized. He was known as a goon, but he could hold his own.

He scored 16 goals that year. Canucks vice-president Stan Smyl was in his final season as a player when Odjick made his debut and skated on his line.
