Belleville police were dispatched to Century Place around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday after an adult female was followed and harassed by an unknown male in the area.
The male followed the woman throughout the downtown core – along Bridge Street to Campbell, back to Front and again onto Bridge – attempting to grab the female’s hand and lead her away. Another citizen intervened and yelled at the suspect at which point he left appeared to leave the scene. As he was leaving, the suspect was observed changing his outer clothing.
The Good Samaritan led the female back to Century Place to await for police arrival. The male suspect was again observed staring at the female from a distance before running away again on foot.
