Danielle Smith\u0027s UCP government in Alberta vows hardline crime crackdown, special prosecutors will target repeat violent offenders

“We will undertake to introduce the most comprehensive and the most hardline position on crime we’ve had in recent history,” says Amery.“If we identify organizations or repeat offenders or individuals who want to subvert our laws and continue to make this place unsafe, we will do everything we can, everything within my power, within the power of the office of the justice minister, to ensure this will not go unnoticed.

“Gone are the days of making excuses for criminals. Gone are the days of making excuses for offenders who do not take our criminal justice system seriously. Personal responsibility is paramount.” Amery says not one victim of crime he’s met has said of criminals, “maybe we should look at finding an excuse for why they have done what they have done.”“I am absolutely certain we will be on the right side of history,” said Alberta Justice Minister Mickey Amery. He has heard loud and clear many Albertans feel exactly the same way.

Of course, a guy by the name of Arif Virani, the Trudeau Liberal justice minister in Ottawa, figures growing crime is in our heads not on the streets.“We are here and we are seeing this first-hand,” says Amery, countering Virani.Article contentHe also wants the Trudeau government to “hear the message Albertans are trying to deliver.”Amery points out how more cops are going to Calgary and Edmonton as well as the continued support from provincial sheriffs.
