Metro Vancouver says the new cost of a wastewater treatment plant on the North Shore is now estimated at $3.86 billion dollars. The updated estimate accounts for inflation, market conditions, interest rates and hiring a new contractor after losing confidence in the previous one.The new $3.86-billion price tag is up from the last estimate of $1 billion as of 2022 and nearly eight times the initial projection of $500 million.
“Today in particular, I am bothered about the additional costs that the District taxpayers will be forced to absorb to get the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant completed and operational.”
