A look at Monday morning’s market action
Global markets were mixed ahead of a data-packed week that will be pivotal in setting expectations for interest rates, although heightened political uncertainty kept enthusiasm in check. TSX futures was flat after closing higher in the previous session.
Overseas, the pan-European STOXX 600 was up 0.2 per cent in morning trading. Britain’s FTSE 100 declined 0.15 per cent, Germany’s DAX rose 0.39 per cent and France’s CAC 40 climbed 0.64 per cent.Commodities Brent crude futures slid 0.4 per cent to US$76.23 a barrel after settling on Friday at its highest since Oct. 14. West Texas Intermediate crude futures were down 0.4 per cent at US$73.69 a barrel after closing on Friday at its highest since Oct. 11.
