A look at Tuesday morning’s market action
Global markets were mixed Tuesday as traders awaited earnings from big names in tech and energy and braced for central bank decisions later in the week.In Canada, investors are getting results from railway company Canadian Pacific Kansas City and energy name Precision Drilling.
“The term ‘calm before the storm’ has been heard across the floors,” said Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone in Melbourne. “This is a day for position management and to review broad exposures.” Brent crude rose by 0.1 per cent to US$79.86 a barrel. It fell intraday to US$79.34, the lowest since June 10. U.S. crude was down 0.2 per cent at US$75.69.
