Members of the Beaver Lake Fire Services Committee brought their own microphone to Wednesday’s City of Greater Sudbury public consultation meeting at the Beaver Lake fire station
Members of the Beaver Lake Fire Services Committee pretty much took over Wednesday’s city-hosted public consultation meeting at the Beaver Lake fire station.
Residents’ amplified voices could be heard throughout the property, which helped reach those who spilled out into the driveway. With more than 100 people in attendance, the fire station was packed. A minimum of four members are required to respond in the first fire crew to arrive on site, meaning the Beaver Lake station has already been supplemented by crews responding from other area stations for years.
The city’s number of volunteer firefighters has dropped by 38.6 per cent during the past decade, which follows a downward trend seen across North America.
