Someone moved the barriers aside on a few occasions, but NSPW replaced them. Later, a berm of rock about four feet high was placed across the road at the bottom of the dip, over top of the culvert, and rock was used to reinforce the western concrete barricade.Community encouraged by communication from Nova Scotia department regarding road barricades near Harbourville
Preliminary work started in October on an upgrade to Russia Road itself. Van Rooyen said NSPW is rebuilding the road to the end. Work has included clearing roadside brush, digging out ditches and adding new gravel to the road surface. Long Point Road has now been paved from the intersection with Shore Road along the shore into Harbourville. Van Rooyen said this section of road was in very bad condition, with broken pavement and deep potholes.
