BC Transit offers free service for Riverboat Days in TerraceBC, Kitimat
As Riverboat Days festivities prepare to set sail in Terrace, BC Transit has announced free bus services on August 5 and 6 across the Kitimat and Terrace systems, allowing revellers easy and affordable access to the celebrations.
BC Transit announced on August 2 that all routes will be free of charge on August 5 and 6 to aid in the transportation of locals and tourists to the various Riverboat Days events. On August 5, buses in both Kitimat and Terrace will operate according to a Saturday schedule. In addition to the regular service, the free transit includes the handyDART service, designed to accommodate passengers with physical or cognitive disabilities. HandyDART will be in operation from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
However, BC Transit wants riders to be aware that all services, including regular and handyDART routes across both systems in both cities, will not be in operation on BC Day, which falls on August 7. Riverboat Days is a highly anticipated event in Terrace, and the provision of free public transit is expected to boost attendance and alleviate potential traffic congestion. Festival attendees are encouraged to plan their travel ahead of time to ensure a smooth journey to and from the event.
