Twelve sports-minded British Columbians and one school were honoured during BC School Sports’ annual awards event in Whistler. The 2026 BCSS Awards dinner, held May 8 at Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa, celebrated contributions that strengthen school sport and enrich the experiences of student-athletes across British Columbia, in eight categories.is the provincial governing body for interscholastic sport in British Columbia, supporting a network of 450-plus public and independent member schools.
Annually, BCSS is a hub for more than 123,000 student-athlete registrations in 18 sports and 60 provincial championships.
“Each year, we are reminded the strength of school sport lies in the people behind it,” said Jordan Abney, BCSS executive director. “The impact of these incredible and deserving individuals extends far beyond competition; they help shape positive experiences and lifelong memories for student-athletes. We are proud to celebrate the 2026 award recipients and recognize their lasting contributions to school sports. ”
