Speaking at a Greater Vancouver Board of Trade event Thursday, CEO Nicolas Jimenez was asked if BC Ferries had an update on Wi-Fi service, which hasn’t been available to passengers since it was removed from vessels in 2021 following years of complaints about its connection quality. “People are like, ‘how could it be so hard?’ Well, it is and it isn’t. So it was only until very recently that we had affordable, for the company, I should say, means to bring Wi-Fi into some of the needs that we have for our own teams,” he said.commercial marine internet packagesJimenez noted that providing Wi-Fi for a crew versus offering it onboard for the hundreds of passengers that travel on major BC Ferries routes is much different.

He suggested the company doesn’t want to introduce onboard internet that would cost money or raise the price of fares, so for now, BC Ferries will see how the service goes with crews only.
