Los Altos’ Sophia Asar pitched a no-hitter to lead her team to the CCS Division IV championship.
Los Altos softball player Sophia Asar is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for May 23-29 after she received 5,990 votes by the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.
Los Gatos track and field standout Hannah Slover finished second and Heritage softball player Kasey Aguinaga placed third.Asar, a sophomore left-hander, fired a no-hitter against Piedmont Hills in the Central Coast Section Division IV championship game. She walked three and struck out six in the Eagles’ 5-0 victory.
