Business owners are contending with extensive damage to storefronts, restaurants and gyms throughout the Bay Area after Saturday's atmospheric river drenched the region.
Dave Karraker, who owns the gym MX3 Fitness in the Castro, posted a"Large amounts of water started gushing through our walls starting around 11 a.m. on Saturday and continued throughout the day," Karraker told SFGATE."We will have to shut down operations at this gym for several weeks while we try to recover and repair."
Karraker said this is particularly devastating as the owner of a gym, as the weeks following New Year's Eve usually bring a great deal of new customers who are beginning their New Year's fitness resolutions. All of the gym's clients will need to be moved to the gym's Mission District location while the damage is fixed, he said.
