Only five Bay Area bars were listed among the nominees this year.

The bar was recently nominated for Tales of the Cocktail Foundation's annual award.Of the drink menu itself, Diedrich and Chun previously told SFGATE that for Kona’s Street Market, they wanted to hone in on the unique flavors of Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, among others, and craft libations that highlighted spirits within those provinces.
“I wanted to do something a little more exploratory and be able to kind of push the boundaries in terms of different regions and have that kind of learning experience,” Diedrich previously toldBeyond San Francisco, other Bay Area contenders featured Palmetto in Oakland, which is up against Kona’s Street Market for the title of best new U.S. cocktail bar, and Paper Plane in San Jose, which is up against True Laurel for best U.S. bar team.
