Here's what prep basketball looks like in Alabama this week.
Haleyville, a semifinalist in the Class 4A Alabama High School Athletic Association state basketball tournament in March, slipped past Class 6A Clay-Chalkville 61-54 on Saturday to improve to 2-0 on the young 2022-23 season.
Tavious Hohenberger led the winners with 18 points. Kameron Shanks had 17 points for Prattville. Small scored 9, including the game-winner.The Senators evened their record in two games against James Clemens, this time with a win on the road. McGill-Toolen had 12 different players to score in the runaway. The Jackets led 19-5 after one quarter and 33-11 at the half.On Friday, McGill rallied from a 6-point deficit to edge Murphy 59-51. Sophomore Ethan Stokes scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter. Stokes also hauled in 10 rebounds in the win.
Brady Wilson led four Decatur Heritage double-figures scorers with 18. Wilson also had 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Jordan Davis scored 17 while Mason Baxley scored 13 and Bo Mitchell added 10.Prattville Christian 78, Sylacauga 56:
