Halifax's Amari Upshaw found the scoresheet in back-to-back games for the men's under-17 team at the World Cup in Turkey on the weekend. The six-foot-four Citadel Phoenix player produced four points in his debut against Germany on Saturday in a 77-52 win. He also had five rebounds and an assist in 15:20 of playing time.Upshaw followed up with two points, three rebounds and two assists in 9:21 of court time against Egypt on Sunday. Canada also won that game to improve to 2-0.
Shelburne's Smith drove the Canadian offence in its trip to the semifinals at the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series in Quebec City. The five-foot-10 guard for Saint Joseph's University in the NCAA shot 7-for-10 from the field to pace Canada with 10 points in a 21-15 win over the Barcelona Panthers.She also led the team with eight points against Chile to help Canada go 3-0 on opening day. Canada fell to the United States 21-13 in the semis.
