A self-proclaimed 'basketball junkie,' Mavericks assistant coach Kristi Toliver is living her perfect dream by being able to simultaneously work as an assistant coach for an NBA team, while also remaining an active WNBA player. (By LindsayDunnTV)
players got in a final workout before they played their first game at Scotiabank Arena since December of 2019.
“Twenty-nineteen,” Toliver told Sportsnet. “2019 was the last time I was in Canada and it was with the [Washington] Wizards so it’s been a while.” Toliver is on contract to play with the Sparks through 2022 and has no plans to retire as a player anytime soon. For now, it’s a balancing act. She was hired back in August to help Coach Kidd. It’s her second stint with an NBA team after working for the Wizards for two seasons while she was playing for the WNBA’s Washington Mystics.
The 34-year-old says she mostly works with Luka Dončić, Dorian Finney-Smith, Jalen Brunson, Frank Ntilikina, and Dwight Powell who all call her K.T.
