P.E.I. Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders catcher Logan Gallant throws the ball to third base after a member of the Fredericton Royals struck out during a New Brunswick Senior Baseball League game at Memorial Field in June. The teams split a pair of games in New Brunswick on July 23. The Islanders host the Moncton Fisher Cats on July 26 at 7:30 p.m. Jason Simmonds/The Guardian - Jason Simmonds • The GuardianThe P.E.I.

Islanders assistant coach Chuck Grady said there is a good rivalry between the Islanders and Fisher Cats. Grady noted that with the teams close geographically, they play single games against each other rather than doubleheaders. This, Grady went on to say, results in each team able to field their best lineups.

“Two wins could distance us a little bit,” said Islanders head coach Kevin MacLean. “In the league overall, there is a lot of parity in it. These are two key games.” “In big situations, we are not stranding too many runners,” said Gallant. “Our pitching and defence, we know what we are going to get out of them night in and night out. The offence has always been our biggest issue, and that’s one thing that has been on a roll lately.”
