Bangi MP calls for shift in how daily Covid-19 cases are reported
DAP’s Bangi Member of Parliament Ong Kian Ming says the National Security Council should focus on more specific and relevant sets of Covid-19 figures than daily new cases to get a better picture of its impact. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, July 16, 2021.
THERE is an urgent need for the National Security Council to shift away from its current practice in the daily reporting Covid-19 cases, Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming said today. Instead of merely looking at the total number of daily cases, the NSC should move on to focus on more specific and relevant indicators, like the percentage of positive cases, the numbers and percentage of serious cases, intensive care unit admissions and the capacity and number of deaths, as practised in the other countries.
