Prices at the Pumps - April 17, 2024 #saltwire #energymarkets #pricesatthepumps #gaspricesA young man who faces 17 charges from a shooting in north-end Dartmouth this winter says a provincial court judge made an error in law when she denied him bail last month.
According to court documents, police allege there were two loaded Glock handguns — one equipped with a laser sight — in the vehicle at the time of Smith’s arrest. He also faces two counts each of carelessly handing a firearm, possession of a weapon or prohibited device for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowingly having unauthorized possession of a firearm, being an occupant of a motor vehicle in which he knew there was a gun, and unlawfully possessing a loaded, restricted weapon.
A ban imposed on the hearing prevents the publication of details, including the evidence, the submissions by lawyers and the reasons Sakalauskas gave for denying Smith bail.
