A man accused of involvement in a shooting at the Colwood residence of a prominent Punjabi music star last September has had his bail application denied. Abjeet Kingra, 25, faces charges of discharge of a firearm with intent and arson stemming from the incident on September 2, 2024, where two vehicles were set ablaze. Kingra appeared in provincial court in Victoria on Wednesday, where his request for bail was denied. He is anticipated to remain in custody until the legal proceedings conclude.
Kingra and 23-year-old Vikram Sharma are alleged to have fired shots into the home of AP Dhillon located in the 3300-block of Ravenwood Road in Colwood. Reports indicate that two vehicles were also set on fire during the incident. Police stated at the time of Kingra's arrest in Ontario in October that someone inside the home had to be evacuated by officers. An arrest warrant has been issued for Sharma, who was last known to reside in Winnipeg but is believed to be currently in India, according to police.AP Dhillon, whose full name is Amritpal Singh Dillon, is a renowned Punjabi singer, rapper, and record producer. In 2023, he achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Punjabi-language artist to perform at a Canadian Juno Awards event.
