Badenoch still in race to be Prime Minister
Anti-woke candidate looks set to surge further after fellow rightwinger Suella Braverman is eliminatedKEMI BADENOCH, the insurgent rightwing Tory MP, made it through another round of voting this afternoon as her colleagues pick the next party leader and Prime Minister., who is standing on a platform of a smaller state and an end to ‘identity politics’, picked up 49 votes putting her in fourth place behind Liz Truss , Penny Mordaunt and Rishi Sunak .
Conservative MPs are whittling down candidates in successive votes each day until they reach the final two, who will go forward for rank-and-file members to pick a winner. Even if all 27 of Braverman’s votes went to Badenoch, it still looks like an uphill task to break into the top two. It is possible that Sunak might see a decline in his support because while he remains the frontrunner in Westminster, a recent YouGov poll showed Mordaunt winning in a head-to-head against every other candidate still in the contest including Sunak., Badenoch would win against Sunak and Tugendhat but lose against Truss, according to a Spectator poll.
