British Columbia-based OpenRoad Group has doubled its portfolio in Ontario with the purchase of two new-vehicle stores in London, Ont. from local group PAG Direct.
OpenRoad said June 20 it had acquired ToyotaTown London and Lexus of London, which share a rooftop at the south end of the Ontario city midway between Toronto and Windsor. The acquisition also included White Oaks Collision Centre, a nearby auto body shop. All three stores were previously owned by Ontario-based dealership group PAG Direct, which retains three other stores in the Toronto suburbs of Richmond Hill and Vaughan.
OpenRoad CEO Christian Chia said the roughly 600,000 residents of London and the surrounding area will provide fertile ground for growth. “It enjoys strong population growth, driven by a diverse economy. The city’s proximity to the United States and to major urban hubs, such as Toronto and Detroit, make it an exciting and attractive place to live and work,” he said in a release. The deal doubles OpenRoad’s footprint in Ontario. It first moved into the province in 2020 with the purchase of Brampton East Toyota and OpenRoad Honda Brampton.
The group owns a further 23 new-vehicle stores and six collision centres in British Columbia. It also has a supercar dealership in Washington state that represents Bentley, Lamborghini, McLaren and Rolls-Royce.
