McBaked throws down pizza gauntlet
A Whiskey Creek pizzeria has officially called out the lead singer of Weezer and issued a deep dish pizza challenge. Matt McIntosh, owner of McBaked bakery and pizzeria, and his son Cameron, 13, came up with the idea after the recent Weezer show in Vancouver.
“Great special effects, songs were amazing. I had a blast,” said Cameron, who has been a fan for three or four years and bought all the Weezer records he can find.
“One of our specialities is the deep dish pizza and we were talking one day and we were like ‘wouldn’t it be cool if we could get Weezer here? ’” Matt said. Cameron came up with the idea of calling out frontman Rivers Cuomo in a bid to have him come to Whiskey Creek for a deep dish pizza bake-off. The original video shows Cameron calling out Cuomo, standing in front of the pizzeria menu.
“I was at one of your concerts recently in Vancouver, however, I don’t think you went far enough west. At McBaked Pizza here, I challenge you to a deep dish contest — yours versus mine,” Cameron said in the post.
“We’ll see whose deep dish is best. ” The plan is to keep putting out videos tagging Weezer and hopefully prompt a response from the band, Matt said.
“I don’t know how viable it is to actually get this guy to the Island, but we want to take it as far as we can,” he added.
