“The RCMP script did not transmit sufficient information about the terms of the injunction order, and the information that was delivered via this script was not accurate and clear,” Thompson’s ruling said. Mirsky said the RCMP spent millions of dollars during the protests and the force’s failure to properly enforce the injunction highlights how provinces should rethink the kinds of policing they’re getting.
