“Our vaccines are highly effective. However, we are starting to see a gradual decline in protection over time,” Henry said. “As a result, we are taking the proactive step of expanding boosters to everyone in our province.”
People will be notified that they are eligible for the booster through the Get Vaccinated portal, some time between six and eight months from their second shot. She said the booster program would be the “extra kick” needed to sustain British Columbia until the COVID-19 pandemic becomes endemic — which is when it will be managed like other community health problems.Article content
The booster clinics will be run by health authorities in community-based locations, while some regions will be offered boosters through a whole-of-community vaccination approach.There were 457 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Tuesday and two deaths.
