If you live in a low-lying area, prepare your home by moving equipment, electrical appliances and other objects to higher ground or a second floor. Sensitive items that can stored should be put in plastic or waterproof bins for storage. Pack a go back for each person in your household that contains all the essentials and necessary items to hold you over in case you are required to evacuate at a moment’s notice. Items like basic toiletries, medication, a change of clothing, shoes, emergency plans and identification are good items to include.
