The Coastal Renaissance at Horseshoe Bay terminal in West Vancouver.Great Big Sea founder making peace with his past | SaltWireB.C. Ferries is cancelling 60 sailings on two popular routes as the Coastal Renaissance remains sidelined and under repair.
That means the ferry company does not have any available vessels to provide extra sailings scheduled between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale in the Sunshine Coast and Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay in Nanaimo to meet anticipated high demand. “We’ve exhausted all possibilities to eliminate the impact of having one of our largest vessels out of service, and we’ve worked to devise a solution that impacts the fewest customers as possible.”The 800 customers currently booked on those sailings will be contacted to have their sailings cancelled at no charge or rescheduled. Anderson said there is sufficient capacity on the remaining sailings for accommodate customers who lose their bookings.
From Sept. 5 until Oct. 9, the Queen of Alberni will replace the Renaissance on Tsawwassen and Duke Point sailings, which are contractually required sailings under the coastal ferry services contract.
