B.C.’s Ministry of Public Safety has approved approximately $1.5 million in funding for evacuation route planning to 60 local and regional governments and First Nations communities. Each of the communities and governments will be receiving up to $25,000 each through the province’s Community Emergency Preparedness Fund, bringing the total granted successful applicants all over the province to more than $17 million since September 2017.That’s just over halfway to the $33.
”North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice adds that the funding appears especially necessary after several years of devastating floods and wildfires.“The programs and projects announced today will help make our cities and towns more resilient,” said Rice. “On the heels of two of the worst flood and wildfire seasons in our province’s history, we need to work together to help our communities prepare for emergencies so they are better positioned to respond and recover.
