With snow expected in the coming week, Avalanche Canada has announced it will begin daily avalanche forecasts starting Nov. 21.

Avid winter backcountry enthusiasts should see a winter wonderland in the upcoming season with the predictedevent. The website has also some updated features to help backcountry users make informed decisions when deciding whether it’s safe to enter the backcountry. Avalanche Canada has updated forecasts for 12 regions across western Canada which starts on Nov. 21.

Hot Zone Reports are a new addition to avalanche safety. Run as a pilot project, Hot Zone Reports will provide information on avalanche conditions and general risk management advice for a particular area. “This is good news for backcountry users,” explains Karl Klassen, Manager of the Warning Service. “These changes have created regions that are more consistent in terms of climate and terrain, which makes it easier for us to be more precise in our forecasts.”“By clicking on the icon in that region, users can see detailed data on snowfall, air temperature, wind speed and direction, and relative humidity.
