Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, shown during a news conference in December 2021, said Thursday that deputies uncovered evidence of human trafficking at a home near Somerset where deputies made multiple arrests.A stash house serving as a hub for a human smuggling operation, along with stolen vehicles and $60,000 in cash, was uncovered near Somerset, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
At least nine people were apprehended throughout the day as deputies closed in on the home, all of whom could face charges related to human trafficking. Salazar called the suspects coyotes, or people who smuggle undocumented immigrants. He said they were smuggling 15 people north “to the tune of big money.”None of the suspects were identified as of Thursday evening.
