The funeral for award-winning author and investigative journalist Stevie Cameron was held in Toronto on Sept. 8. Cameron died at home in that city on Aug. 31. She was 80 years old, and had suffered from Parkinson’s and dementia. Cameron was best known in political circles for her books on corruption and ethics on Parliament Hill in the Brian Mulroney era. Her first book, Ottawa Inside Out, was published in 1989, followed by On the Take: Crime, Corruption and Greed in the Mulroney Years in 1994.

She ran for the federal Liberal leadership in 2006 following Paul Martin’s departure, but lost to Stéphane Dion. She served as a Liberal MP for the Ontario riding of Willowdale from March 2008 to May 2011.
