At MaisonValentino, a new kind of gothic glamour rules the runway.
traded ethereal for gothic with bewitching tailored separates, voluminous capes, and slinky evening gowns largely saturated in black. The beauty pushed the moody milieu into even more subversive territory, with extreme cat-eyes, sculptural updos, and dark nail polish laying the drama on thick.
Nodding to the negative-space encasings of the '60s, makeup artist Pat McGrath traced on an array of extreme, out-to-there wing designs, some shaded in metallic silver pigment, others punctuated by rows of small crystals. Glowing skin, a hint of contour, and clear vinyl lips rounded out the equation for a thoroughly modern feel. The exaggerated gazes were also highlighted by the equally statement-making sleek low ponytails with deep side partings crafted by hairstylist Guido Palau.
