The Big 3 sports didn't meet the annual grand expectations, but each shows reason for...

Texas A&M's new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino and uarterback Conner Weigman are two reasons the Aggies are excited about 2023 football season.COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M baseball’s final swing and miss of the season on June 5 slammed the book on the most aggravating major sports school year in memory for Aggies fans — at least those who hadn’t already blocked it out.

Based on those premises, Fisher should be bona fide bananas this summer thanks to the past two seasons. The Aggies started each year ranked sixth nationally, only to finish unranked. This past season took the proverbial banana cake, however, as A&M's 5-7 record included a home loss to Appalachian State, the low point of the five-season Fisher tenure.

That impressive run, including making the SEC tournament title game, earned Williams a two-year extension to 2028 on his contract this month, paying him about $4.4 million annually. The only results that truly matter to college basketball fans are, of course, those in the 68-team NCAA Tournament, and the Aggies this past season ran into a hot-shooting Penn State squad in the tournament’s first round in losing 76-59.
