The House committee charged with overseeing the program has ramped up its efforts to ensure transparency around who receives loans.

Now, it seems, companies with connections to Congress got in on the action as well, with at least four members of Congress personally benefiting from PPP loans, Politico reported Tuesday.

Businesses owned by Rep. Roger Williams and Rep. Vicky Hartzler and the husband of Rep. Susie Lee , as well as one connected to the husband Rep. Debbie Mucarsel Powell , all received loans from the program. The casino company owned by Lee’s husband, Full House Resorts, received $5.6 million and Fiesta Restaurant Group, which employs Mucarsel Powell’s husband as an executive, received a $15 million loan which it returned in full, while Hartzler and Williams received loans for undisclosed sums.an investigation into the disbursement of PPP funds and called on the administration to release the names of all PPP borrowers.

Julie Oliver, Williams’ Democratic opponent, slammed him for taking the loan after voting against legislation to increase the program’s transparency,, “This is the largest distribution of taxpayer money in the country's history. #TX25 needs to know how that money is being spent. There was a common sense, bipartisan bill filed in the House to disclose. Roger Williams voted against it. That's unacceptable.
