Hundreds gathered in Harlem on Friday to honor the 27th birthday of Breonna Taylor, the black woman and EMT who was shot and killed by Louisville police officers in March. SayHerName
, the African-American emergency medical technician who would have turned 27-years-old yesterday. Taylor was killed on March 13 by Louisville police officers, entering on a "no-knock" search warrant, who shot and struck her at least eight times in her own apartment. The vigil for Taylor was heldthe Adam Clayton Powell Jr.
Taylor has become a nationwide face representing the many black women who continue to be victims of injustice, igniting a call for Americans to remember Taylor and all the others who have been murdered through the social media campaign #SayHerName. at the vigil on Friday. “Black men, black sons, stand up tall and strong. Every time we say a name, we wonder when you will say ours.” To honor Taylor’s memory, people placed flowers and lit candles in her memory.
