Kyle Tucker also scored. LOS ANGELES – The Astros overcame a second bullpen lapse in two days to salvage their series finale at Dodger Stadium, securing a 6-5 win in 11 innings.
The Dodgers retied it in the bottom of the inning on Mookie Betts’ sacrifice fly off Ryan Pressly, who had also worked a scoreless bottom of the ninth. Pressly restored some stability from an Astros’ bullpen that had allowed five runs in a loss Saturday and saw another member falter Sunday. Pitching coach Josh Miller visited the mound to talk. Neris warmed in the bullpen. Montero threw three fastballs to Will Smith that missed, then three more. Smith jumped on the last. His drive to center sailed 416 feet for a game-tying home run.
The rebound reflected a larger one for Brown. The righthander had allowed six runs in his last outing to the Mets. He hurled six one-run innings Sunday, allowing three hits. Betts’ leadoff home run in the first inning, on a 2-0 slider, marked the only damage against him.
