Defenceman William Irvine and forward Marc Richard scored in the shootout for the Capitals. Rookie defenceman Lincoln Waugh, assisted by JD Shoniker and DonHeaven Veilleux, gave the Caps a 1-0 first-period lead. Tigers goaltender Jacob Carrier also played a strong game, stopping 36 of 37 shots through regulation and overtime.The Tigers went 1-for-6 on the power play while the Caps did not score on their six man advantages.
