Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT One of the creators behind DC's Arrowverse teased a potential sequel series starring Brandon Routh in the role of Superman. Routh originally played Superman in the 2006 movie Superman Returns. Though Superman Returns earned decent reviews and turned a profit, it wasn't enough to spawn a sequel. Routh reprised the role 13 years later as part of the Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event.
Marc Guggenheim, who helped develop the Arrowverse on The CW, recently replied to a Twitter thread by teasing a possible sequel series to Superman Returns. This was in response to a thread discussing Routh's work as Superman in both the original movie and the Arrowverse. Guggenheim's comments on the possible series can be seen below:
Guggenheim wrote, "Brandon and I have talked about a sequel series. We have some really exciting ideas..." His tweet spawned a lot of excitement, with many expressing their desire to see Routh take on the role of Superman again. Before reprising his role as Superman, Routh appeared as Ray Palmer aka the Atom on Arrow. Routh went on to play Ray Palmer in a variety of Arrowverse shows and had a major role in DC's Legends of Tomorrow. When the Arrowverse did its Crisis on Infinite Earths event, Routh returned to the role of Superman. Thanks to Crisis being a multiverse story, Routh wasn't just playing Superman again, but the exact same Superman he had in the movie.
