Provincial police in eastern Ontario have arrested a person in connection with a boat collision that claimed the lives of three people during the Victoria Day long weekend.OPP divers search the water of Buck Bay on May 21 following a fatal boat crash on Bobs Lake. OPP are expected to announce details of an arrest related to the collision that killed three and injured five more.
On Tuesday, OPP Const. Rob Martell confirmed one person is in custody and is set to appear in court in Kingston on Wednesday. OPP issued a media release Tuesday stating a "significant development" in the case would be announced during a news conference outside the OPP's Frontenac detachment at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
In an email to CBC earlier this month, Martell said "great progress" had been made in the case, but said no charges had been laid at that point. Martell indicated he "completely" understood the public's interest in the case.described him as a good friend to many, with a "huge, kind heart" and the ability to light up a room with his smile.
