Calgary’s Kiefer Jones and Medicine Hat’s Jesse Florkowski will compete in the inaugural U.S. Adaptive Open

“With me having one arm, I always say I’m not going to feel sorry for myself because if you look down the street, I’m sure there’s going to be people worse off than I am,” Florkowski said. “And playing in these tournaments, you’ll see a bunch of different impairments and how they deal with life, and it’s pretty remarkable. There are guys with one leg. There are guys missing a leg and an arm. There are people who are blind … It’s pretty remarkable what they all can do.

It will, believe it or not, get a bit better for the male and female overall champions. They’ll head home with USGA gold medals — similar to those that Minjee Lee and Matt Fitzpatrick earned for their major triumphs last month. “I think that just shows no matter what kind of adversity you have, if you put your mind to something and work at it, you’d be surprised what you’re able to accomplish.”
