Schwarzenegger was born with a bicuspid aortic valve, a genetic heart issue. His mother and grandmother both died due to heart issues. Schwarzenegger said doctors at the Cleveland Clinic advised him to get the pacemaker fitted because scar tissue from a previous surgery was making his heart beat irregularly.Schwarzenegger thanked his medical team, saying he "diligently" stayed in touch with them over the years to update them about his health.
He said he chose to make the announcement on his podcast because it's a place where everyone can be open and honest.
