Armed counter terror police will patrol FERRIES for the first time this summer
Around 40 officers from the Civil Nuclear Constabulary will be deployed to ships. They will be stationed on ferries from Dover and passenger ships from Newcastle.
The firearms-trained guards are set to work on a rotational basis for a trial period. Ministers want them to fix what is seen as a 'weak link' in UK's transport policing
