One person was shot and taken to the hospital after the shooting on Shady Valley Drive.

A man is in the hospital after he was shot by Arlington police in a neighborhood on Monday morning.The shooting happened on Shady Valley Drive, off of Park Springs Boulevard, but the incident began earlier in the day.Police say they were called to a home after a family confronted a 20-year-old man about his drug usage.Officers found the man near the home, but determined no criminal offense had occurred.The man ran from police before they were able to frisk him to check for weapons.

Shortly after, the 20-year-old crashed into another vehicle that was traveling along Shady Valley Drive.The man then got out of the truck and began to run. Police say two officers fired their service weapons "multiple times" hitting the suspect.The officers rendered aid and he was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police say the man is currently stable and likely to survive.Police say the suspect was armed, and a firearm was recovered at the scene.
